NIAGARA HEALTH
The Department of Surgery, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Niagara Health seeks a motivated surgeon with a passion for providing the highest quality care to join the Department working at the Niagara Falls and Welland Hospitals, joining the new South Niagara Hospital in 2028. The selected candidate will have a proven track record of innovation and for providing exemplary patient care, as well as specialization in upper extremity care. Moreover, candidates will be expected to show evidence of interpersonal and collaborative skills and a commitment to medical training at all levels.
Niagara Health is a regional healthcare provider with multiple sites and a growing network of community-based and virtual services.
We believe that every person in our region deserves to live every day of their life in the best health possible. As a community-based academic centre, our focus on teaching and learning, research, innovation and partnership propels us to continually improve care and make a difference in people's lives.
Our team is made up of more than 7,500 staff, physicians and volunteers who we count on to deliver Extraordinary Caring. Every Person. Every Time. Our Accreditation with Exemplary Standing is a clear demonstration of the team's commitment to the highest safety and quality standards.
We provide a full range of acute care hospital services to the 450,000 residents across the Niagara region, and we are one of the few hospitals in Ontario that own and operate a long-term care facility.
Momentum continues with the South Niagara Hospital project. This 1.3-million-square-foot hospital is planned to open in the summer of 2028, after construction began in July 2023.
Launched in May 2023, the Niagara Health Knowledge Institute (NHKI) is on a mission to lead community hospital-based research in Canada and advance healthcare and health service delivery through research, quality improvement and education. The NHKI will transform healthcare in Niagara through knowledge generation and mobilization, and solidify Niagara Health’s position as a national leader in research at community hospitals.

Since its founding in 1966, innovation has been the hallmark of McMaster University’s Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine and a major contributor to its international reputation for excellence. The medical school has expanded to a regional campus in Niagara, which is located at Brock University. Students at the Niagara Regional Campus complete their clinical rotations in one of the six area hospitals with teaching done by the highly skilled and motivated hospital physicians.
Opportunities for strengthening and building strong academic partnerships are a priority for Niagara Health as the hospital has expanded into this new facility. We are interested in Physicians who will pursue a university faculty appointment and participate in academic activities within a strong regional community hospital setting.
In addition to McMaster, Niagara Health is building strong ties with other regional academic providers such as Brock University and Niagara College. |
