Job Description
The Canadian Centre for Refugee and Immigrant Healthcare is a leader in Canada committed to providing accessible, compassionate, culturally safe, and trauma-informed healthcare services to refugees, asylum seekers immigrants, and other underserved newcomer populations across the GTA. We are expanding services. Our interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, dietitian, chiropodist, and mental health counsellor works collaboratively to provide a lifeline to healthcare for newcomers without access, supporting the unique healthcare needs of diverse communities through comprehensive optimal primary care and community-focused services.
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate physicians to join our clinical team on a sessional basis. The successful candidate will provide high-quality primary care services to refugee and immigrant populations in a collaborative, supportive clinical environment. This role is ideal for physicians who are passionate about equity-focused healthcare, culturally responsive care, and working with diverse marginalized patient populations.
Responsibilities
● Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients across the lifespan
● Conduct medical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care
● Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
● Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare providers and community partners
● Support culturally safe and trauma-informed care practices
● Participate in quality improvement and team-based care initiatives as appropriate
● Comply with clinic policies, professional standards, and privacy legislation
Qualifications
● Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
● Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) preferred
● Experience working with refugee, immigrant, or marginalized populations is considered an asset
● Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills
● Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and culturally responsive care
● Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team environment
● Speaking a second language that serves our population (ie, Farsi, Dari, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, or Mandarin) is considered an asset
Schedule and Compensation
● Flexible scheduling based on clinic needs and physician availability
● In-person and virtual options available
● Compensation: $212.80 per hour
