The Providence Health Care (PHC) Division of Cardiology invites applications from outstanding cardiologists with a minimum of 1-year dedicated fellowship training in heart failure. This position is based at St. Paul’s Hospital, which is a University of British Columbia (UBC) affiliated teaching hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia. The successful applicant will pursue an academically focused career with a commitment to clinical excellence, research and/or education scholarship.

St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH) is British Columbia’s only quaternary cardiac referral center providing care for the most complex and acute cardiac patients in the province. The Heart Function Program at SPH is widely recognized as a provincial leader in developing practice standards, care pathways, transformative initiatives and advancing scholarship. Most recently the Program has expanded to include an inherited cardiomyopathy clinic in partnership with PHC’s Provincial Centre for Cardiogenetics. The General Cardiology Program at SPH continues to expand rapidly to meet the needs of the population and in anticipation of moving to the New St. Paul’s Hospital in early 2027. Foundationally, applicants must have specific interest and aptitude in general cardiology and the care of hospitalized and ambulatory patients.

The position will involve ambulatory heart function and general cardiology clinic, inpatient cardiology consultation and ward service as well as access to interpretation of cardiac electrodiagnostics. There will be opportunity to explore participation in other clinics and services tailored to the applicant’s training and academic aspirations.

Applicants must possess RCPSC designation in Internal Medicine and Cardiology or their equivalents, at least 1 year of Heart Failure training and must be eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and research and possess exceptional work ethics and collegiality.

This role will also be a clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate is expected to substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and education programs. The Division of Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotions and Tenure Committee (AARPT) of the UBC Department of Medicine.
