Description:
The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary, Section of Podiatric Surgery invite applications for a board certified or qualified Podiatric Surgeon. Qualifications include a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree with a three-year surgical residency and qualification by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS). It is desirable for the candidate to have training in Diabetic Limb Preservation from an established Podiatric Surgery fellowship program. Eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta is required.
The successful candidate will join the Section of Podiatric Surgery and participate in a Podiatric city-wide call schedule. The primary site is the Peter Lougheed Hospital. They will also be responsible for inpatient consultations, elective consultations, and elective foot surgery. They will share resources with the current group of Podiatric surgeons, which includes general anesthesia operating room time at both the Peter Lougheed Hospital and chartered surgical facilities, minor surgery operating room time, and time in the Zivot Limb Preservation Centre. The surgeon will have a private office off site.
The successful candidate will act as a preceptor for learners at all levels of undergraduate and post-graduate education and will be expected to apply for an appointment with The Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. The successful candidate will have an interest in clinical or basic research and will support ongoing section research. Administrative roles within the Section of Podiatric Surgery will be expected over time. The successful candidate will embrace a collaborative model to advance patient care and quality improvement.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association.
