Job Description
The Timmins and District Hospital is a 225-bed district hospital serving a local population of 41,000 and a catchment area of 110,000. Timmins is located in Northeastern Ontario, and is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Long Term Care, and Mental Health Services.
About the TADH Hospitalist Program:
- We have a typical census of around 60, so you could expect a list of around 15, including ALC (0-3 patients), on a 4-hospitalist week.
- Hospitalist weeks start at 08:00 on Fridays and finish at 08:00 on the following Friday.
- We truly have a great supportive group of physicians and specialists support including Internal Medicine, General Surgery, ENT, Psychiatry, Orthopedics, Anesthesia, Addictions Medicine, and Nephrology. We also have an excellent DI Dept with state-of-the-art CT and MRI.
- Allied health supports include 24/7 RT, SW, PT, OT, Dietician, Geriatric Assessment Team (SW/OTs).
- For codes, there is always at least one ER physician in-house to run codes. Often, the Internist will also support. If you are onsite they will ask for your involvement, as you know the patient's history the best.
- As a 4th hospitalist, you would equally share the on-call responsibilities for new admits throughout the week. Admits typically come from the ICU or ER. Our Emergency physicians do admission assessments/orders and will also hold calls from 23:00 hrs until the next am at 07:00 hrs before calling. Admissions are divided equally among the four hospitalists, usually when you meet in the am (typically work together to balance the lists).
- Hospitalists are also on-call for their patients throughout the week.
- We use Meditech Expanse as our EMR. Training is available if not familiar.
- Travel and accommodations are supported through the Northern Specialist Locum Program
- $150/night for accommodations
- We have apartments 2 minutes from the hospital or multiple hotels that are 5-10 minutes away from the hospital
- $50/day for car rentals
- 100% of travel expenses
- We have direct flights from Toronto
- $150/night for accommodations
The compensation for the week is $16,750 - $18,750. Remuneration includes:
- $4,500 hospital stipend
- *One-time $2,500 hospital incentive*
- $363.57/day honorarium (approx. $3,250 for the week)
- 100% of billings, estimated to be between $6,500 - $8,500
