Job Description
A position of General Adult Psychiatrist within the Specialized Mental Health program at Waterloo Regional Health Network in Kitchener-Waterloo is now available! Kitchener/Waterloo is a great place to raise a family, has world class educational facilities, and offers 1 - 1.5 hour proximity to Pearson International Airport and Toronto.
The Specialized Mental Health program offers an adult inpatient mental health unit, a transitional support unit and a seniors’ mental health unit at its Chicopee campus, at 3570 King Street East, Kitchener. These units provide care for patients who need longer assessment and treatment in order to foster recovery, maximize independence and improve quality of life.
The Chicopee group brings a recovery focused approach to rehabilitative psychiatric care, in a spacious and comfortable setting. The team is a very well resourced, collegial and collaborative group dedicated to high quality and holistic patient care.
Our psychiatry department is a large 25 member group divided between our acute Midtown and Chicopee sites. We are highly supportive of each other and value working with our intra-professional colleagues.
The position involves a mixture of inpatient and outpatient work at our Chicopee Site. The time commitment for this position is flexible, and could be full time or part time (3 – 4 days per week). Compensation is a mix of stipend and fee for service. Call for the site is shared by the Chicopee group (1 week blocks). There is opportunity for an academic appointment with the McMaster University and the ability to engage in teaching of residents and medical students through the Waterloo Regional School of Medicine.
Candidates with an independent CPSO licensure and Royal College specialty certification in Psychiatry, and a desire to bring their best quality work to each patient and family interaction, are encouraged to apply. We welcome interest from eligible residents in their last year of specialty training.
