POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Surgery at The Ottawa Hospital/ University of Ottawa is inviting applications for a permanent position in the Division of General Surgery. We seek a full-time, academic Breast Surgical Oncologist, at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate will have completed a residency program in general surgery as well as fellowship training in breast surgical oncology or surgical oncology with an emphasis on breast surgery. The ideal candidate will also have additional training in oncoplastic surgery. As well, the surgeon will be expected to engage in education, research and quality initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
· The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher
· The candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
· The candidate must have coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
· The successful candidate must have demonstrated outstanding knowledge, skills and ethical standards as evidenced by strong letters of reference
· Candidate with a Masters or PhD will be strongly considered
Terms of Employment
The income for this position is derived from a variety of sources including but not limited to clinical billings (fee-for-service). Health and welfare benefits including extended health, dental and disability insurance as well as life insurance are offered to full-time surgeons.
Remuneration Details
Salary range: $250,000 - $400,000 annually

The Ottawa Hospital is a 1150 bed tertiary-care hospital serving Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec at four inpatient sites (Civic, General, Heart Institute and the Rehabilitation Centre) and one ambulatory centre (Riverside). There are approximately 50,000 inpatient admission, 160,000 emergency visits and over one million outpatient visits annually.
The Rose Ages Breast Health Centre is a comprehensive breast health centre which houses expertise in breast surgical oncology, high risk breast patients, diagnostic imaging and psychosocial services. The Breast Health Centre at The Ottawa Hospital cares for over 1,000 breast cancer patients per year along with 500 benign breast patients.
