Job Description

Position Description: 

The Department of Pediatrics (DoP), invite applicants to apply to this 1.0 FTE, AMHSP position at the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH), within Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone, Section of Pediatric Cardiology. 

This is a Pediatric Cardiologist AMHSP position, starting July 1, 2026 at 1.0 FTE or upon the availability of the successful applicant. 

There are several opportunities for collaboration, with strong ties between Pediatric Cardiology, Neonatal Critical Care, Pediatric Critical Care, Adult Cardiology, Medical Genetics, and Stollery Children’s Hospital. Planned clinical activity will include: shared consultation service with the Pediatric Cardiology group, including participation in the call schedule; minimum of one half-day ambulatory clinic per week at ACH; and participation in the echocardiography reading service shared by the Cardiology Group which includes a minimum of one half day Transthoracic echocardiography reading at ACH. There are opportunities for additional clinics and collaboration with other services for subspecialty expertise. 

The successful applicant will be expected to maintain an academic appointment within the Cumming School of Medicine, with participation in the education of undergraduate and postgraduate students who rotate through Pediatric Cardiology.  

The Section of Pediatric Cardiology has 10 cardiologists with subspecialty representation in advanced cardiac imaging, fetal cardiology, heart function, transplant, pediatric and adult congenital electrophysiology and pulmonary hypertension. Pediatric cardiac surgical and interventional cardiology services are provided at the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Outreach clinics are currently provided to Lethbridge. 

The Alberta Children’s Hospital services the City of Calgary and the residents of Southern Alberta, Southeastern British Columbia and Southwestern Saskatchewan: a catchment area of ~ 3 million people. The Alberta Children’s Hospital is a free standing Children’s Hospital which opened in 2006 with state-of-the-art technology for family-centered care, research and education. Calgary is a vibrant city of over 1.6 million people. It offers a superb quality of life. Calgary is situated near the Rocky Mountains (Banff National Park), and is rapidly emerging as a cosmopolitan, diverse and cultural center with outstanding green spaces, schools and communities.

Qualifications: 

The Candidate must have a Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology subspecialty certification (or equivalent) with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Experience in Pediatric Echocardiography is an asset.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write, and speak English.

Additional Information

 

Qualifications:
