Southlake Health is seeking a Cardiac Electrophysiologist to join our growing and dynamic team within a high-volume, innovative cardiac electrophysiology program.

Position Overview

Eligible applicants must have:

·        Completed a two-year fellowship in adult cardiac electrophysiology.

·        3rd year electrophysiology international fellowship would be an asset

·        A solid foundation in general cardiology.

·        Certification in cardiac electrophysiology from the American Board of Internal Medicine is a strong asset.

·        Eligibility for Independent Practice licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

·        Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification.

Preferred Candidate Attributes

We are looking for a candidate with:

·        High proficiency in complex cardiac ablation (including atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia) is a must.

·        Proficiency in standard ablation and electrophysiology studies.

·        Experience in cardiac device implantation, including:

·        Cardiac resynchronization therapy

·        Physiologic pacing

·        Interest in clinical research is highly desirable.

·        Any special interest in areas such e.g. laser extraction, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, epicardial ablation

The role includes participation in:

·        General cardiology call coverage

·        Outpatient clinical services

Program Highlights

You will be joining a well-established and collegial EP team of five electrophysiologists performing high volumes of complex procedures. The program offers:

• Over 1,300 ablations/EP studies, 800 pacemakers, and 400 ICD implants annually
• Three state-of-the-art EP labs
• Advanced procedures including:
  • Pulse Field Ablation
  • Laser and mechanical lead extraction
  • Left atrial appendage occlusion
  • Subcutaneous defibrillator implantation/ extravascular
  • Leadless and physiological pacing
• Robust training and research infrastructure, including EP fellowship programs
• A collaborative cardiac team including 5 cardiac surgeons and 23 cardiologists with subspecialties in interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging, valve procedures, and more
