Endocrinologist (Locum)

The Department of Medicine at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre are seeking an Endocrinologist or Internist with expertise in diabetes management to join our esteemed Diabetes Clinic team. Position Overview:

This locum coverage position is specifically for the RVH Adult Diabetes Outpatient Clinic. Coverage is required for clinics on Thursdays and Fridays at RVH from Feb 5th 2026 to September 25th 2026 (inclusive). Please note the dates have some flexibility. You will have the opportunity to utilize your expertise in managing diabetes and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, education, and support to our patients.

Responsibilities:

·        Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients with diabetes, including medication management, lifestyle modifications, and referrals to other specialists as needed.

·        Conduct regular follow-up appointments to monitor patients' progress and make necessary adjustments to their treatment plans.

·        Collaborate with the Diabetes Clinic team, including certified diabetes educators, pump educators, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care and education to patients.

·        Stay updated on the latest advancements in diabetes care and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives within the Diabetes Clinic.

·        Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters and provide appropriate referrals for further investigations or interventions when required.

Qualifications:

·        Medical degree and valid license to practice as an Endocrinologist or Internist in the province of Ontario, Canada.

·        Board certification in Endocrinology and/or Internal Medicine.

·        Experience and expertise in the management of diabetes, including both type 1, type 2 diabetes and diabetes in pregnancy.

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
