Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is a leading surgical hub in Central East Ontario, offering
a broad scope of complex and high-acuity services. As a Regional Centre of Excellence for Orthopaedics and Vascular Surgery, PRHC is proud to deliver exceptional care across nine (9) surgical specialties with access to advanced technologies and a collaborative surgical culture.
The Opportunity
PRHC is seeking a full-time Orthopaedic Surgeon with fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery to join our team of seven (7) orthopaedic surgeons. The successful candidate will provide both general orthopaedic care and elective foot and ankle surgical services, contributing to a collegial and high-performing surgical program.
Responsibilities include:
· Elective surgical care with a focus on foot and ankle.
· General orthopaedic trauma coverage through a shared call model.
· Participation in general orthopaedic clinics, including fracture and casting clinics, as well as rapid access services.
· Engagement in quality improvement and innovation initiatives.
Orthopaedics at PRHC: A High-Performing, Subspecialty-Driven Program
· Subspecialty-driven practice with dedicated pathways for sports medicine, shoulder, and foot and ankle surgery.
· Turnkey surgical practice with established referral patterns and diagnostics.
· Same-day discharge for joint replacement procedures.
· High-functioning 12-room OR equipped for complex surgical volumes.
· Dedicated Orthopaedic Rapid Access Clinic and Cast Clinic.
· Teaching and mentorship opportunities available.
· Growth in the daytime trauma room model and support for future robotic surgery integration.
Advanced Technology and Innovation at PRHC
· Use of the Conmed system for arthroscopic procedures and minimally invasive surgery, supporting precision and patient recovery.
· Intraoperative blood conservation with cell saver technology for complex or revision cases.
· Streamlined care through same-day surgery pathways, supported by skilled AAs and PAs for efficient team-based delivery.
· Enhanced safety and precision with advanced anesthetic monitoring tools, including BIS, McGrath, and Glidescopes.
· Dedicated block room with nerve catheter capability to enhance perioperative pain management and patient comfort.
· Forward-looking investment in hybrid OR capabilities and future robotic surgical integration.

Position Qualifications
· Currently registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
· Fellow Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
· Fellowship trained or equivalent experience in foot and ankle orthopedics.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with physicians, nursing, staff, patients, directors, managers, and the community as required.
· Demonstrated analytical ability.
· Actively encourage a spirit of co-operation amongst team members.
· Eligible for staff privileges at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
· Evidence of ongoing continued medical education.
· Demonstrated interest in patient safety and quality improvement
