Position Description:
Horizon Health Network seeks an emergency medicine physician for the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, NB. This is an opportunity requiring CCFP (EM) certification or CCFP with a minimum of 2 years experience in Emergency Medicine. Remuneration is by sessional rate. This is an opportunity for a new graduate or a practicing physician who has maintained ER work as part of their practice. The candidate will share responsibilities with full time and part time emergency physicians. In addition, the candidate must have current ATLS and ACLS and a willingness to participate in teaching, research, and administrative roles including monthly meetings.

Job Duties:
§ Provide emergency-centered care to all age groups and genders presenting to the emergency room.
§ Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and other allied medical staff.
§ Participate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority’s mission, values and strategic directions.
Hours of Work:
§ Hours of work are a minimum of 29 hours per week or as required as per departmental needs.
Remuneration:
Sessional
Remuneration is by a sessional rate arrangement as outlined in the New Brunswick Physicians’ Manual. No source deductions can be provided.
Qualifications:
§ A medical degree is required.
§ ATLS and ACLS certification is required.
§ Candidates must be eligible for an unsupervised licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
§ Proficiency in English is required. Bilingual skills would be considered an asset.
§ In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada.
§ Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
§ Good attendance and work record.
§ Physically able to perform assign duties.

Incentives:
$100,000.00 accompanied by a 4 year return of service.

Situated west-centrally in New Brunswick, the Upper River Valley area, including the Town of Woodstock and the Town of Hartland, Horizon’s Upper River Valley Hospital serves a catchment population of 45,000. Many sites in this region are situated along the majestic St. John River valley and all sites are within driving distance of the province’s historic capital, Fredericton.
The hospital provides services to the Town of Woodstock, Town of Hartland several villages and other surrounding communities. The community’s economy is mainly based on natural resources and farming industries. The area has a diverse population distribution that is 60% rural and 40% urban.
The Upper River Valley Hospital is the newest hospital in New Brunswick. It has been designated as the first full-service hospital in Canada to be recognized as a leader in energy and environmental design.
