Position Description:
Horizon Health Network's Upper River Valley Hospital is seeking a full time or part time family physician to join the Upper River Valley Family Medicine Department. You will be joining a collaborative group of physicians and allied health care workers. Family Physicians have the opportunity to work in an established Health Clinic or establish their own clinic. Options to work in a Fee for service or salaried environments are available to the physician.
Family physicians establishing a full-time community-based primary care practice in the Upper River Valley region, provide comprehensive family medicine services to patients with the Department of Family Practice at the Waterville Hospital.

Job Duties:
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform clinical duties including but not restricted to seeing and assessing both scheduled and unscheduled patients for routine and illness care, prescribing treatment, consults, referral to other healthcare professionals as required and appropriate follow-up.
· Maintain a minimum patient caseload of 1500 patients per year.
· Participate in the use of departmental and corporate evidence-based rules of practice to ensure that expected standards of care are achieved.
· Participate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority’s mission, values and strategic directions.
· Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of treatment, education, counseling and health promotion programs and services for individuals, families and the community.
· Participate in after hours on-call coverage at the Hotel-Dieu of St-Joseph in coordination with other medical staff ensuring provisions are made for continual coverage of patient caseload during times when you are absent from your practice.
· Participate as required in the emergency room duty roster and the delivery of obstetrical services at the Hotel-Dieu of St-Joseph outside of the salary arrangement.
· Other duties that may arise by circumstance and may be assigned by the Facility Manager and/or the Chief of Family Practice.
Remuneration:
Fee for Service
Standard remuneration is Fee-for-Service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick. On call remuneration is provided. No source deductions can be provided.
Salaried options are available to physicians interested in a non FFS environment.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must hold a valid license to practice medicine in the Province of New Brunswick
· Must be a member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
· Must have current malpractice insurance from the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) appropriate to the category of practice.
· CCFP certification preferred.
· Certified in BCLS (Basic cardiac life support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Sup)ort(, preferred.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
· Good attendance and work record.
· Physically able to perform assign duties.

Expected Start Date:
As soon as possible
Incentives:
$100,000.00 accompanied by a 4 year return of service.
Relocation reimbursement of up to $8,000.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
· Attend appropriate CPD events as required to maintain membership in the CFPC or equivalent to those requirements.
· Participate in physician meetings and appropriate team meetings
· Comply with the policies and procedures of the Department of Family Practice
· Comply with the provisions of the Hospital Act, the Regional Health Authorities Act, Medical Services Payment Act and their regulations.
· Comply with the Health Authority bylaws, rules and regulations and policies and procedures.
· Follow the Code of Ethics of College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick
About the Facility:
Situated west-centrally in New Brunswick, the Upper River Valley area, including the Town of Woodstock and the Town of Hartland, Horizon’s Upper River Valley Hospital serves a catchment population of 45,000. Many sites in this region are situated along the majestic St. John River valley and all sites are within driving distance of the province’s historic capital, Fredericton.
The hospital provides services to the Town of Woodstock, Town of Hartland several villages and other surrounding communities. The community’s economy is mainly based on natural resources and farming industries. The area has a diverse population distribution that is 60% rural and 40% urban.
The Upper River Valley Hospital is the newest hospital in New Brunswick. It has been designated as the first full-service hospital in Canada to be recognized as a leader in energy and environmental design.
