ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services – Eastern Urban Zone invites applications for a permanent full-time Emergency Medicine Physician at Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, NL.
The successful candidate will join an established team of Emergency Medicine Physicians at one of Atlantic Canada's premier tertiary care and teaching hospitals. Health Sciences Centre is the provincial tertiary referral centre, providing a full range of specialist and subspecialist services to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Emergency Department at Health Sciences Centre is a high-volume, full-service department supported by the full range of specialist services, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, and critical care resources available on site. ER shifts are allocated in an equitable and predictable templated format.
The Cancer Care Program is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. This position offers opportunities for teaching, scholarly activities, and clinical trials participation.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Current certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and ATLS
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Emergency Medicine (or equivalent)
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Must satisfy credentialing and privilege requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive emergency medicine care to patients of all age groups at a tertiary care level
- Work scheduled shifts in an equitable and predictable format
- Perform and interpret point-of-care ultrasound as required
- Collaborate with the full range of specialist and support services available on site
- Participate in teaching and scholarly activities through the Memorial University affiliation
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION
Remuneration will be in accordance with the Alternate Payment Plan (APP).
