MGH is a member of the Toronto East Health Network (TEHN) and part of a vibrant and highly integrated Ontario Health Team (OHT). MGH is a community teaching hospital, affiliated with the University of Toronto, and Toronto Metropolitan University. MGH serves one of Canada’s most diverse communities. MGH has 470 beds comprised of acute care, rehabilitation and complex continuing care beds. MGH is the community training site for resident trainees in the endocrinology program at the University of Toronto.
The successful candidate will have certification in Endocrinology and Metabolism by the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent college/board and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario.
The successful candidate will develop, manage and see patients in a new fracture prevention clinic, focused on assessing and treating patients who have had a fragility fracture at MGH, for secondary prevention. We are looking for someone with an active interest in osteoporosis, bone health, and fracture prevention. The candidate will also provide inpatient consultative care for a full spectrum of community endocrine conditions and share equitably in the endocrine on-call schedule.
Other components of the endocrine division program include a large diabetes in pregnancy clinic, diabetes education team with actively improving expertise in insulin pump management, collaboration with head and neck surgery in the thyroid diagnostic clinic, nuclear medicine program including radioactive iodine treatment, walking clinic for diabetes, specialized female reproductive clinic and an expanding metabolic obesity clinic with support from the Ontario Bariatric Network.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interprofessional, interpersonal and collaborative skills in improving the multidisciplinary care that we provide to our diverse population of people. The candidate will also be expected to lead quality improvement initiatives for the newly created fracture prevention clinic, and/or other initiatives complementary to the quality improvement committee of the Division of Endocrinology at the University of Toronto.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in education, including rounds presentations, and supervision and teaching of residents. Involvement in research and quality improvement activities are encouraged. Participation in committees at the hospital and/or university level is also expected. The successful candidate will be eligible for an appointment in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, commensurate with their qualification and academic achievement.
