Position Overview

Brightshores Health System (Brightshores) is seeking a Family Physician to join the Wiarton Hospital Site, providing essential hospital-based and emergency services to a rural catchment area of approximately 12,000 residents.

Wiarton Hospital is part of Brightshores’ integrated six-hospital regional system serving Grey and Bruce counties. Physicians benefit from strong inter-site collaboration and established referral and consultation pathways. The Level 2 referral centre in Owen Sound, located approximately 25 minutes away, offers access to state-of-the-art diagnostics including CT and MRI, as well as a broad range of inpatient and specialty services.

Physicians’ office practices are conveniently located in a clinic adjacent to the hospital, supporting continuity of care between community and hospital-based practice.

Qualifications:

• CCFP (Family Medicine) eligible for independent practice in Ontario
• Candidates must hold, or be eligible for, independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).

Compensation & Incentives:

• Alternate Funding Agreement model
• Competitive compensation including hourly stipend plus percentage of shadow billings
• Physicians practicing in eligible communities may qualify for the Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (NRRRI)
• Relocation assistance and recruitment incentives available for permanent hires

About the Family Medicine Department:

Each of Brightshores’ six hospitals has a family medicine department. There are independent, group and clinic models of practice across the corporation. In the rural hospitals, family physicians provide 24/7 emergency coverage, acute inpatient care and GP anesthesia in three hospitals. The urban hospital in Owen Sound includes a small number of family physicians who continue with emergency and obstetrics practices, in addition to their office practices and inpatient care.
