The successful candidate will have at least 1-2 years of subspecialty fellowship training in adult foot & ankle surgery, a Master’s Degree in Health Economics or Epidemiology or other research discipline, as well as demonstrated strength in research and teaching in an academic surgical setting.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Participate in the St. Paul’s Hospital Orthopaedic On-Call group
• Manage complex tertiary/quaternary foot & ankle reconstruction with confidence
• Fully participate in the academic and research activities of Foot & Ankle Program at St. Paul’s Hospital

• Participate in centralized intake for foot & ankle referrals
• Begin practice with a 2 year full-time provisional term, with potential to move to full active staff status thereafter

The successful candidate will be mentored by foot and ankle surgeons.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and will have demonstrated abilities to work within a complex tertiary care environment, to participate in teams providing multidisciplinary care, and to perform appropriate orthopaedic surgical procedures at the highest level in a cost & resource constrained environment.

The successful candidate would be expected to assist in the running of the educational programs for foot and ankle. They will assist in the management of the foot and ankle research office and the associated grants and publications. They would be expected to transition to leading both education and research.

Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent) and will have completed postgraduate and fellowship requirements prior to appointment. They will hold or be eligible for licensure with the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons and be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Orthopaedic Surgery.

St. Paul’s Hospital is a Level 3 trauma center and receives primarily single-limb trauma. It is also both a large tertiary care teaching hospital serving patients from across British Columbia and a downtown hospital in Vancouver serving the urban core and a diverse, often marginalized population. The successful applicant will be expected to capably manage a diverse range of general orthopaedic trauma, including upper and lower extremity fractures, as well as musculoskeletal infections and wounds. The Division of Orthopaedics at St. Paul’s Hospital is currently comprised of 12 full-time with academic subspecialty interests in upper extremity reconstruction, foot & ankle, and arthroplasty.

Providence Health Care hires on the basis of merit and is committed to employment equality. We encourage all qualified persons to apply. However, Canadians and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority.

The successful candidate will also exemplify Providence’s values and contribute to a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion. In addition, Providence is committed to our responsibilities on Truth and Reconciliation. We hold ourselves accountable for making our care, facilities and services a safer experience for Indigenous patients, residents, families, staff and Medical Staff.

Why PHC
Providence is a non-profit Catholic organization that provides services in partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health and the Provincial Health Services Authority. At Providence we embrace compassionate care, social justice, and innovation while delivering medical services to vulnerable populations across Vancouver and its neighbouring communities. Providence is committed to building a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion where the staff and Medical Staff – both current and prospective – feel welcomed, valued, and supported to thrive in their work. As we look towards the future, we are led by four strategic pillars: quality-forward, people-forward, learning-forward, and partnerships-forward. We invite you to join us as we work towards building the future of healthcare in British Columbia.

How to Apply
To build a strong and representative workforce, we encourage physicians from all backgrounds to apply. We are deeply committed to diversity within our community, and welcome applications from Indigenous persons, people of colour, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity, and others who may contribute to the further diversification and inclusion of ideas, practices, and ways of knowing that can improve our care and services.

Interested candidates are invited to submit a letter of introduction outlining their qualifications and interest in the position, as well as a current CV and the names of three references by July 3, 2026.

Qualifications:
Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) License (Full); Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) (Mandatory); Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) (Mandatory)
