About Cancer Fatigue Services
Cancer Fatigue Services (CFS) is a groundbreaking Toronto-based clinic and Canada's first physician-led, multidisciplinary practice dedicated to the assessment, treatment, and prevention of cancer-related fatigue. Our care model combines comprehensive medical assessment, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), supervised rehabilitation, and structured physician-led counselling – delivered as a coordinated longitudinal pathway for patients living with, or wanting to prevent or mitigate, cancer-related fatigue.
We are seeking compassionate, curious, and collaborative physicians to join our growing clinical team. Supported by a multidisciplinary team of allied healthcare professionals, you will conduct comprehensive assessments, oversee individualized results delivery and care planning, deliver structured counselling, and work alongside our multidisciplinary team to help patients reclaim control of their energy and their lives.
Experience in oncology is an asset but is not required. Your clinical acumen, combined with a collaborative and compassionate approach to patient care, will be invaluable in diagnosing, treating, and supporting our patients across their cancer journey – from active treatment into long-term survivorship.
Key Responsibilities
CFS physicians work as full participants in the clinic's complete care model. You will be supported across all aspects of patient care by our multidisciplinary team, with administrative and scheduling infrastructure already in place.
Comprehensive Assessment & Care Planning
• Conduct comprehensive fatigue assessments, including history of fatigue presentation, oncologic and treatment history, symptom characterization, and functional status review, for patients living with or wanting to prevent or mitigate cancer-related fatigue.
• Lead results delivery encounters, walking patients through their assessment findings, CPET results, and proposed care plan, and developing the shared care plan collaboratively with the patient and the multidisciplinary team.
• Coordinate and adjust ongoing care, including re-assessments and revisions to the shared care plan, in collaboration with referring oncologists, primary care providers, and other specialists as needed.
Physician-Led Counselling Program
• Deliver the CFS physician-led counselling encounters that anchor our longitudinal care model. These are structured, template-supported appointments delivered separately from supervised rehabilitation sessions, covering:
◦ Psychosocial support and symptom management counselling
◦ Return-to-activity planning and barrier resolution counselling
• Educate patients and their families on cancer-related fatigue – its causes, risk factors, and the most effective, evidence-based treatment and management strategies.
Multidisciplinary Team Support
• Provide medical oversight to the CFS rehabilitation and psychosocial teams, including review of progression decisions, response to clinical questions arising during supervised sessions, and management of symptom changes or treatment-related events that affect exercise prescription.
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team of physicians and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated, comprehensive care.
• Maintain strong relationships with Fatigue Care Partners and the broader oncology and primary care community to ensure patients receive well-coordinated care.
Clinical Knowledge & Documentation
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within the clinic EMR, in compliance with all medical record-keeping standards and regulations.
• Engage in continuing education to remain current on best practices and research in cancer-related fatigue, exercise oncology, and survivorship care.
• Represent CFS at relevant clinical, patient care, and scientific events as opportunities arise.
Qualifications & Attributes
Required
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited medical school.
• Active and unrestricted medical licence to practise in Ontario (CPSO), in any specialty or general practice.
• CMPA coverage appropriate to ambulatory specialty practice.
• OHIP billing number and willingness to work within an independent contractor / fee-for-service arrangement.
• Experience with electronic medical records and structured templated documentation.
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Compassion and empathy in working with patients and their families.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Dedication to evidence-based practice and continuous learning.
Assets (not required)
• Training or experience in oncology, supportive care, palliative care, internal medicine, family medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or exercise medicine.
• Familiarity with CPET interpretation, or willingness to be trained on the CFS interpretation framework.
• Experience with structured counselling, motivational interviewing, or behaviour-change frameworks.
Working Environment
• Onsite and telemedicine-based care delivery.
• Newly renovated medical facility with modern equipment and onsite access to other healthcare professionals.
• Flexible part-time scheduling, negotiable based on candidate availability.
• Collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team.
• Full administrative, scheduling, billing, and clinical documentation infrastructure is already in place.
Growth & Leadership
CFS is in an active growth phase, and we are looking for physicians who want to grow with us. Opportunities for expanded clinical hours, clinical leadership roles, and contribution to clinic governance are available for candidates who demonstrate strong fit and long-term interest. Specific pathways and arrangements will be discussed directly with candidates as the relationship develops.
Compensation
Fee-for-service under an independent contractor arrangement, with the specific structure to be discussed during the interview process. Continuing education support and additional benefits are available.
