The community of Humboldt, located in Southeast Saskatchewan, is seeking a team orientated and professional family physician to join the Humboldt Medical Clinic. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team providing primary health care services to the community of Humboldt and surrounding area and will work collaboratively with other medical professionals to support the acute care and emergency services in the area.The Humboldt District Health Complex provides a wide variety of services including obstetrics, coronary care, OR, diagnostics, and 24 hour on site emergency care. Physicians working in Humboldt will participate in providing on-site ER coverage (currently 1:14) which is remunerated through the Rural Emergency Room Agreement for Services.The Saskatchewan Health Authority is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the educational needs of medical students, residents, nursing staff and allied health professionals. The successful candidate will be encouraged to become involved in the academic efforts in the Department of Family Medicine in our area.This position will remain open until filled and may be filled prior to the posted closing date

The Rural Physician Incentive Program (RPIP) which provides up to $200,000 over five years to family physicians practicing, or returning to practice, in rural and remote communities in SaskatchewanThe SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 - $14,000 per year for fulltime work.
Qualifications:
Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)Regular or Provisional License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) (or eligible to be licensed)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificationRecommended - Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)Valid driver’s licenseSuccessful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sectorCurrent Canadian Medical Protective Association coverageLegal entitlement to work in Canada

Call Schedule:
24-hour on-call coverage is required for hospital inpatients, home care and long-term care residents, as well as for critical lab values. Currently, the on-call responsibilities are shared equitably among physicians in the community.
