Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) North Sector, in partnership with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a qualified Anatomic or (AP/CP) General Pathologist. Fellowship training and/or years of experience in Dermatopathology, Gynecological pathology or lymphoma pathology will be considered an asset. This position will support a team of pathologists at our Hub Lab North site. Successful applicants will also be considered for appointment with the University of Alberta’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. The Department of Lab Medicine & Pathology, with 100+ pathologists’ functions as a Center of Excellence, supported by state-of-the-art ancillary testing capabilities (immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cytogenetics and molecular pathology).
Job Summary & Responsibilities
Pathologist must maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics, must actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs, and must actively participate in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical teaching. The successful applicant is expected to become an active zonal consultant in their area(s) of expertise. In addition to a sub-specialty practice, participation in general surgical pathology practice is required. Fellowship training and/ or expertise in Dermatopathology, Gynecological pathology or lymphoma pathology, is our current need. Specialty in one of these areas is considered an asset.
Applicants shall possess a strong history of collegiality with co-workers, professional (academic and/or clinical diagnostic) accomplishments, and evidence of ongoing continued medical education. Responsibilities may include supervising technical staff, overseeing the laboratory quality assurance program, on-call requirements, clinical consultation with physicians, surgeons and oncologists,
Minimum qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta with certification in Anatomic Pathology, Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology. Subspecialty fellowship training in areas of Dermatopathology, Gynecological pathology or lymphoma pathology is considered an asset. The ability to contribute collegially to the group practice and laboratory operations will be an important factor in candidate selection. International applicants meeting criteria for Alberta licensure are encouraged to apply (including J1 VISA holders), as this position is eligible for immigration sponsorship.

· Ability to work in a dynamic, changing environment that allows for delivery of quality service.
