Join Northeastern Ontario’s healthcare leader
Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord (HSN) is recruiting health care professionals who have a keen interest in affecting change within its dynamic health care system. As the tertiary care referral centre for the entire Northeastern Ontario region, HSN serves a catchment population of over 600,000 residents.
The Department of Pediatrics is actively seeking Royal College certified General Pediatricians to join their team at the Northeastern Ontario Health Centre for Kids (NEO Kids). NEO Kids became a vital part of HSN in 2014 and is home to over 20 specialized outpatient clinics and services. NEO Kids is Northeastern Ontario’s hub for specialized children’s care comprising of Pediatricians, health care professionals including but not limited to: registered practical nurses, speech language pathologists, physiotherapists, and administrative staff. The NEO Kids Foundation (NKF) was launched in November 2015, with a mission to advocate for healthier children in the North raising funds for children’s services, equipment, and research at HSN.
The Department’s current complement of 8 Pediatricians staff regional programs in diabetes, cystic fibrosis, Autism testing, spasticity, child maltreatment, neonatal follow-up, and oncology. HSN also offers a Pediatric Ambulatory Care Unit for infusions, injections and other medical services, has a Complex Care Kids of Ontario (CCKO) clinic, an ADHD clinic, a child maltreatment clinic and other various services. HSN manages a level 2C neonatal unit provides intensive care to newborns with a 10 bed capacity and serves as a level 2C consulting pediatric centre for the districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin. HSN’s general pediatric unit has a 12 bed capacity which cares for sick or injured children from birth to 17 years of age.
Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Ontario and have obtained or be eligible to obtain speciality qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. We have a strong interest in academic work and welcome applicants with a strong academic background. All physicians are required to seek academic appointment at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), and become involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. Research opportunities are also available with HSN’s research institute, HSNRI.
