Williams Lake is in BC’s Central Interior Region, otherwise known as the Cariboo Chilcotin Region, and is famous for the annual Williams Lake Stampede. There is a population of approximately 35,000 in Williams Lake and surrounding areas with a total population of 62,000 for the Cariboo Regional District. A vast array of lakes, rivers and hiking and biking trails, makes Williams Lake and the surrounding area a great place for outdoor enthusiasts to camp, fish, hunt and play during the summer months while winter months bring the enjoyment of snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, and ice fishing for the winter months. Cariboo Memorial is under renovation with planned completion of 2026! The CMH redevelopment project includes an addition to the existing hospital as well as renovations to the existing facility. The addition will add 25 in-patient beds for a total of 53, a new emergency department and mental-health unit.

Currently, CMH is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake with 28 inpatient beds. CMH hospital offers ER, OR, Med-Surg, and Obstetrical units. Lab and diagnostic imaging and outpatient Hemodialysis Unit are operated on-site.

Deni House is adjacent to CMH, embodies a resident centered philosophy designed to help people function at their highest level and provide the best quality of life. Deni House has 13 private and 5 3-bed rooms. Nine of the beds are designated as short stay including 2 palliative beds, and ALCP’s (2beds).

In this community you can practice GP Anesthesia 1-5 days a week, with 1:4 or 1:5 nights of call/weekends depending on the department size. We work in a stimulating environment ensuring we maintain our skills. We support General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dental procedures and visiting Orthopedic Surgeons, primarily focusing on knee and hip replacements. The community is currently recruiting a local Orthopedic Surgeon.

Experience would be an asset but we have the capacity to mentor new graduates. The successful applicants can expect to have a highly collaborative and interactive medical setting as well as the opportunity to educate medical students and family practice residence. There is an opportunity to have a part time Family Practice office, an ER practice, join our local Longterm Care Group or GP oncology group.
If you have an interest in a limited scope Interventional Chronic Pain service, dependent on training, it can be accommodated.
