Williams Lake is in BC’s Central Interior Region, otherwise known as the Cariboo Chilcotin Region, and is famous for the annual Williams Lake Stampede. There is a population of approximately 35,000 residents locally, and 62,000 residents within the Cariboo Regional District. A vast array of lakes, rivers and hiking and biking trails, makes Williams Lake and the surrounding area a great place for outdoor enthusiasts to camp, fish, hunt and play during the summer months while winter months bring the enjoyment of snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, and ice fishing for the winter months. Williams Lake has something for everyone.

Hospital Description:

Cariboo Memorial is under renovation with planned completion of 2026! The CMH redevelopment project includes an addition to the existing hospital as well as renovations to the existing facility. The addition will add 25 in-patient beds for a total of 53, a new emergency department and mental-health unit.

Currently, CMH is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake with 28 inpatient beds. CMH hospital offers ER, OR, Med-Surg, and Obstetrical units. Lab and diagnostic imaging and outpatient Hemodialysis Unit are operated on-site.

Deni House is adjacent to CMH, embodies a resident centered philosophy designed to help people function at their highest level and provide the best quality of life. Deni House has 13 private and 5 3-bed rooms. Nine of the beds are designated as short stay including 2 palliative beds, and ALCP’s (2beds).

Locum opportunities are available for OB-GYN at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital following local OB-GYN retirements. Whether you are thinking of your next long-term career opportunity or enjoying helping out communities in need with short-term coverage while trying out different locations, come for a locum and check us out!

We serve a catchment area of ~55,000. The coverage is needed for 1:3 home call for Obstetrics and Gynecology. Obstetrics call is consultant based.

Physician services in Williams Lake include Pediatrics and General Surgery and a knowledgeable and experienced group of Family Doctors.

In Williams Lake the summers are hot and the winters are snowy but not frigid. We are one of the sunniest places in the province. Mountain biking, skiing, and water sports are just some of the many recreation opportunities available.
