Job Description

Kamloops

Set amid sandstone canyons, rolling grasslands, and magnificent evergreen woods, Kamloops is a flourishing city of 100,000 with an energetic character set against a stunning natural setting.

Known for our welcoming spirit, our city has earned its moniker as the Tournament Capital of Canada, offering big city amenities including excellent eateries, unique shops and exceptional recreation facilities. We take immense pride in our dynamic arts community, and annual events including the Kamloops Film Festival, Wildlights at the BC Wildlife Park, and Music in the Park.

With eight beautiful provincial parks and over 100 lakes nearby, our city offers fantastic opportunities for outdoor activities like fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking and camping. With mountain, parkland and desert fairways dotting the landscape here, we’re fast becoming Canada’s premier golf destination. Come winter, Sun Peaks Resort transforms into a mecca for skiers and snowboarders, just a quick 45-minute drive out of the city.

With 300 sun-filled days and the warmest people you’ll ever meet, Kamloops is the perfect spot to set down roots and live life with passion.

Practice Details:
We seek Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Specialist physicians to join our team at Royal Inland Hospital. As a Level II Trauma Centre, services are highly developed to address complex poly-trauma, brain injury, stroke, and post-intensive care rehabilitation. Broad outpatient services and a Physical Medicine Ambulatory Clinic are integrated with allied health colleagues in Speech Language Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Orthotics and Prosthetics.

The opportunities include PMR focus in EMG and Trauma, with a fully accredited Neurodiagnostic lab. A third PMR focus is general medical inpatient rehabilitation including Geriatric and complex medical cases. We also have outpatient clinics for inpatient aftercare, musculoskeletal consultations and interventional spasticity management.

Kamloops is the northern extension of productive wine country in south central British Columbia. We sit in the middle of lakes, mountains, ski hills, and river systems. We enjoy biking, hiking, skiing, water sports, all right here in our backyard. Our community has an excellent educational system, organized sports, music and theatre. There are amenities not often found in smaller urban centres. University affiliations provide rejuvenation and an atmosphere to keep learning. Commuting to larger centres is easy, along with highly developed online support. We have a supportive network of PMR specialists in British Columbia and western Canada. Our national association, the Canadian Association of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (CAPM&R), is active, inclusive, and supportive.

The successful candidate must possess a keen desire and have the ability to work in all areas of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation practice. Locum opportunities are available throughout the recruitment process and we look forward to welcoming you to our team.
