Locum or Full Time ER, Clinic, Inpatient and LTC

Rainy River Health Centre has a full-service Emergency Department offering 24-hour care. 64 slice high resolution CT scanner 90 kms east in Fort Frances. Rainy River Health Centre has 3 Acute Care beds and 20 LTC and a Physician Clinic. Full time anesthesia and surgical coverage available in Fort Frances, La Verendrye Hospital.  One Physician/Locum will be reasonable for ER, Inpatients, 20 LTC residents at the Rainy River Health Centre and patients at the Rainy River Clinic.  There are several options; Split coverage for 2 Physicians/Locums, 2 Physicians would collectively share the combined ER/Hospital/Clinic/LTC responsibility with 1 Physician/ Locum receiving Clinic rate and the other receiving ER rate. Responding to nursing concerns and managing routine and urgent issues as needed. Review and manage diagnostic reports for investigations ordered by preceding locums.  Rainy River Clinic is Monday to Friday, flexible hours. Locums can provide ER only or Clinic only or choose to cover the combined ER/Hospital and Clinic. For further information please contact recruiter.

Practice Dates and Hours

Ongoing need for 12 or 24 hour shifts available through 2025, can work one or two shifts or numerous shifts/days in a row. Responsible for ER, Clinic, Inpatient and LTC (see other options above).  Please contact recruiter for available dates.

Patient Volume

5,000 per year.

Travel Allowance and Remuneration

12 hour shifts, 24 hr shifts. 

Remuneration for ER/Hospital only: $183/hr (includes Temporary Locum Program Funding TLP, we expect this schedule to continue through 2025.)

Remuneration for Clinic only: $200/hr

If the locum decides to provide ER, Clinic, Inpatient and LTC the daily rate is: $5009.46

Travel costs are reimbursed 100% from HFO locum programs. There is also a $600 per day travel honorarium paid for arrival and departure day. 

Accommodation Offered

Fully furnished home available, nice local hotel suite, airbnb's, physician call room is nice and convenient suitable to stay long term, all close to Rainy River Health Centre.

Compensation Details

$183/hr for ER/Hospital only.  $200/hr for clinic only.  All travel and accommodations reimbursed through locum program.

Teaching Opportunity

Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) places two students in the region. Teaching is available but optional.  We are affiliated with NOAMA, with our own Fort Frances Local Education Group (FFLEG).
