Medical Director, Cardiovascular Services (0.2 FTE)
Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and visionary physician leader to serve as Medical Director, Cardiovascular Services—a leadership role equivalent to 1 day per week (0.2 FTE) with flexible hours.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the next evolution of cardiovascular care in Northwestern Ontario while supporting the launch of the region’s first Cardiovascular Surgery Program.

TBRHSC is a 375-bed Academic Health Sciences Centre serving the people of Northwestern Ontario. As a teaching and research partner of NOSM University, we are committed to exceptional patient-centered care, clinical innovation, and advancing health equity across the region.
THE ROLE
The Medical Director provides clinical and strategic leadership across:
- Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
- Pacemaker Clinic
- Visiting Cardiovascular Clinics
- 2C In-Patient Cardiology
- Cardiac CT
- Cardiac Diagnostics (Stress Testing, ECG, Echocardiography)
- Cardiovascular Rehabilitation
- Development & oversight of the Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
The Director supports operations, performance improvement, and integration across the cardiovascular continuum, including collaboration on the Cardiovascular Surgery Expansion Project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership:
- Align resources with hospital strategic priorities
- Foster collaboration between programs and medical departments
Clinical Operations:
- Oversee call coverage and physician scheduling
- Support recruitment and onboarding of medical staff
Quality Improvement:
- Develop and report on performance indicators
- Ensure high-quality, evidence-based practice
QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensed or eligible with CPSO
- Specialty certification in Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Nephrology, or Neurology
- Minimum 5 years clinical experience and 3 years leadership experience
