Job Description
- Work in a collaborative relationship and partnership with the Director for Continuing Care Homes and the Medical Director of Type A Continuing Care Homes (CCHs).
- Participate in initiatives designed to advance medical care for Type B CCHs.
- In collaboration with Director of CCH, lead corridor implementation of provincial initiatives and assist in development of strategic direction for Type B CCHs at the provincial level.
- In collaboration with the Director of CCH, lead zone implementation of local initiatives specific to Type B and develop corridor specific strategic and business plan.
- Provide medical oversight and have responsibility for ensuring high quality medical care in Type B CCHs.
- Act as a key medical resource to the Type B CCH team.
- Establish and update policies and procedures to facilitate the efficient effective operation of Type B CCH.
- Participates in the development of all aspects of clinical best practices in Type B CCHs.
- Attend meetings integral to fulfilling the responsibilities of this role which include
- CCH quality council
- Type B CCH Leadership meeting
- Quarterly Calgary Zone Seniors and Continuing Care Meetings
- Calgary Zone Owner Operator meetings as needed
- Site Lead Medical Meetings
- Provincial Meetings on Type B CCHs.
- Be involved in quality assurance, critical incident and patient complaint management in Type B settings.
- Undertake to address barriers to system effectiveness and achievement of goals of Type B CCH.
- Work with the Director of CCH to undertake integration strategies, identify trends, issues and developments likely to affect work and outcomes within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Liaise with Corridor Clinical Departments and medical leaders, urban and rural areas for the development of new facilities and new programs.
- Meet regularly with the Medical Directors/Site Lead Medical of Type B CCHs. This includes annual performance reviews of the Site Medical Leads.
- Submit annual report to the Calgary Zone, ALA Seniors and Continuing Care Medical Lead.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold a CCFP or FRCPC designation and be eligible for a Medical Staff appointment with Alberta Health Services. Clinical and leadership experience managing the care of seniors across home, community and continuing care spectrum will be beneficial.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write, and speak English.
