Work Location: On site - Brandon Regional Health Centre (150 McTavish Ave East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3)
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Anticipated Shift: Full Time, Days, Early Mornings, Mornings, Evenings, Nights, On Call, Weekends
Daily Hours Worked: Various hour shifts (30 to 40 hours per week)
Position Type: Fee for service
Wage Rate: Compensation is fee-for-service as per the Doctors Manitoba and Manitoba Health a Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living negotiated rates. Average Salary CDN$432,512.00 to $600,000.00 (to be negotiated) Minimum Wage is guaranteed for 1 year.
Position Summary
As the second largest city in Manitoba, with a population of 55,000 and growing, Brandon is the main hub and referral site for southwestern Manitoba, with a catchment area of approximately 200,000 people. Brandon Regional Health Centre is a fully accredited multi-specialty facility with 300+ bed capacity and are currently undergoing a $110 million-dollar expansion of our inpatient care facilities, expected to be completed in 2026.
Brandon Regional Health Centre is a satellite campus for the University of Manitoba and the Rady Faulty of Medicine, and offers the opportunity to contribute to the teaching/mentoring of medical learners.
The Department of Obs/Gyne in Prairie Mountain Health is seeking one, permanent full-time Obstetrician/Gynecologists to be located in Brandon, Manitoba. Brandon currently has 5 Obstetrician/Gynecologist as well as 5 midwives.
We provide full obstetrical services providing 24/7 in-house coverage.
We seek a candidate who will combine office-based practice with hospital practice. Successful Applicants must be able to work within an interdisciplinary team and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to provide high quality patient and family centered care. Subspecialty training or experience in minimally invasive surgery is an asset. You will have the opportunity to join one of the various clinics located throughout the city. Qualified PRA candidates are encouraged to apply, provided they meet eligibility requirements.
- Daily OR availability for the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology
- 12 single labor and delivery rooms
- 8 beds for antepartum, postop C-section, and postpartum recovery
- 24-hour epidural capability with on-site anesthesiology 24/7
- Lactation consultant is on site
- Level 2B NICU with 11 beds
- All maternity and NICU staff are trained in NRP
- Pre-assessment triage area has 4 beds for non-stress tests; regular assessments with pregnancy concerns over 22 weeks also managed here
- Full service diagnostics on site (Radiology, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Echocardiology & Nuclear Medicine)
- A variety of specialist services including 24/7 Pediatric coverage
- 1 in 6 on call
- Affiliation with the University of Manitoba offers teaching opportunities if desired
- Midwives and Family Physicians also perform deliveries in an integrated service delivery model

Responsibilities
- Diagnose diseases and physiological disorders
- Prescribe post-operation medication and treatment
- Supervise surgical procedures
- Treat diseases, injuries and deformities
- Act as consultants to other physicians
- Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
- Supervision: 1 to 2 people
Credentials
- Must be eligible for registration and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
- Must have CMPA Coverage
- To provide emergency coverage at any acute care facility that provides obstetrical services in the region you must have current ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification
- The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine degree with specialization in Obstetrics/Gynecology. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba
- Must be a member of CMPA or provide proof of equivalent malpractice insurance

Additional Information
Security and safety:
- Complete and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate.
- All Health Care workers are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with the Prairie Mountain Health policy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
