ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services invites applications from physicians across Newfoundland and Labrador for a part-time, virtual Occupational Health Physician position. This is a province-wide role — physicians based anywhere in NL are encouraged to apply regardless of their primary practice location.

NL Health Services has a dynamic and multidisciplinary team of professionals in occupational health, injury prevention, occupational and non-occupational disability management, and occupational health and safety.

The successful candidate will serve as a virtual consultant to the occupational health team on matters related to complex return-to-work and medically related accommodations, communicable disease management, occupational disease, safety-related issues, and other clinical activities performed by the Occupational Health team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
• Certification in Occupational Medicine (required)
• Current Medical Review Officer (MRO) verification and progressive experience in the field considered an asset
• Experience in delivery of occupational health services considered an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide expert virtual consultation to the occupational health team on complex return-to-work cases and medically related accommodations
• Support communicable disease management within the organization
• Advise on occupational disease, safety-related issues, and other clinical occupational health matters
• Collaborate virtually with the multidisciplinary occupational health team across NL Health Services
• Support person-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

Remuneration is Fee-For-Service / Sessional in accordance with the Medical Care Plan (MCP) Payment Schedule.

Sessional Rate: CAD 188.84 per hour
