Part-Time Emergency Physician
St. Joseph’s General Hospital – Elliot Lake, Ontario
Position Overview
St. Joseph’s General Hospital (SJGHEL) is seeking Part-Time Emergency Physicians to join our collaborative and well-supported Emergency Department team. This opportunity is ideal for physicians looking to incorporate Emergency Medicine into their existing practice or seeking regular part-time ED work in a supportive community hospital setting.
Our Emergency Department sees approximately 30–40 patients per 24 hours and is supported by a strong interdisciplinary team.
Clinical Responsibilities & Department Highlights
- Flexible part-time scheduling based on physician availability and department needs
- Mix of 12- and 24-hour shifts, depending on scheduling needs
- Single physician coverage overnight (10:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m.)
- Interdisciplinary support including Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants
- Opportunity for ongoing, regular ED shifts
Qualifications
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Certification in Emergency Medicine (CCFP-EM, FRCPC), or Family Physicians interested in incorporating Emergency Department work into their practice
- Eligible for hospital privileges at St. Joseph’s General Hospital
- Commitment to collaborative, team-based care
Compensation & Incentives
· Emergency Department Alternate Funding Arrangement (EDAFA)
· Shadow billing (~37%)
· Additional compensation and applicable supports discussed with interested physicians
