CHEO's Division of Emergency Medicine is seeking physicians to join our team in full-time or part-time permanent positions. Applications are welcome from physicians trained in Emergency Medicine (FRCPC-EM or CCFP-EM) or Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

CHEO is a tertiary academic children's hospital serving Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and Nunavut and is affiliated with the University of Ottawa. Our Emergency Department sees approximately 70,000 children and youth annually and provides care across the full spectrum of pediatric illness and injury, with immediate access to pediatric critical care, anesthesia, surgery and comprehensive medical and surgical subspecialty services.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative group of emergency physicians working in a busy academic pediatric ED with a strong commitment to excellent clinical care, education, research and quality improvement. CHEO is a major teaching site for pediatric and emergency medicine residents, PEM fellows and medical students, with opportunities to contribute to teaching, research, simulation, quality improvement and divisional or hospital leadership according to individual interests.

The opportunity

We are recruiting both full-time and part-time physicians, with considerable flexibility for those interested in part-time practice. A full clinical FTE is currently 96 clinical hours per month; part-time commitments can be tailored to individual availability and interests. Part-time physicians may also have the option of working exclusively in our Ambulatory Zone.

Physicians join an experienced multidisciplinary ED team in a well-supported tertiary pediatric environment. The department is staffed by two to four emergency physicians throughout the day and evening, with only four hours of single coverage overnight. Comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical subspecialty services and PICU support are readily available

Qualifications

Applications are welcome from physicians with training in:

• FRCPC Emergency Medicine
• CCFP Emergency Medicine
• Pediatric Emergency Medicine

Candidates must be eligible for independent practice and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
