Pediatric Ophthalmologist
Trillium Health Partners, Surgery Program, Department of Ophthalmology
Trillium Health Partners is the largest community based academic health network in Ontario, serving over one million residents in the communities of Mississauga, Peel Region and West Toronto. The hospital encompasses three main sites – Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital, and Queensway Health Centre – offering a full range of acute care hospital services.
Trillium Health Partners is a regional tertiary level Ophthalmology center, providing glaucoma and advanced anterior segment surgery, paediatric ophthalmology/strabismus surgery, corneal transplants, oculoplastic care and cataract surgery.
Our Surgery Program is seeking a full-time Associate Pediatric Ophthalmologist to be a member of our Division of Ophthalmology. The ideal candidate will have FRCS(C) certification in Ophthalmology with a sub-specialty fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology. In this role, the physician would join a dedicated team of fellow Ophthalmologists and work closely with the interprofessional team to support pediatric patient/family centered care.
The candidate will be expected to participate in the Division’s pediatric-specific on-call schedule. As Trillium Health Partners is home to Ontario’s highest birth volumes and a level 2c neonatal intensive care unit, the candidate will participate in retinopathy of prematurity screening and hospital clinic-based follow up care. Surgical time will be provided in support of our existing pediatric ophthalmology high surgical volumes with a focus on strabismus repair. If requested, additional limited adult cataract surgical time may be available for the candidate to maintain intraocular surgical skills. It is expected that the candidate will provide pediatric comprehensive ophthalmology office-based care in a community-based office practice that is located to provide accessible service to the residents of the Mississauga and West Toronto communities.
Trillium Health Partners is an affiliated academic teaching center with the University of Toronto. The preferred candidate will be expected to participate in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Experience or strong interests in quality improvement, innovation, healthcare technologies, and clinical and applied research will be an asset. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, and a commitment to an inter-professional care model, are also essential.
The position represents an opportunity to join a group of dedicated healthcare professionals in a progressive organization. The successful candidate will be licensed in good standing in Ontario or eligible for a license to practice in Ontario. Trillium Health Partners is strongly committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from visible minority group members, women, Aboriginal persons, and persons with disabilities, members of sexual minority groups and others who may contribute to further diversification of ideas.
