Job Description

Medical Oncologist
BC Cancer – Victoria
Locum
Victoria, BC, Canada

BC Cancer is recognized internationally for excellence in cancer care, research, and education. At the Victoria centre, physicians practise within a comprehensive cancer program that includes Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care, and a wide range of supportive services such as Nutrition, Clinical Trials, and Patient and Family Counseling. The centre also partners closely with community oncology clinics— including Nanaimo, BC—so patients can access systemic therapy and follow‑up care closer to home. This integrated, team‑based model allows physicians to work collaboratively while delivering high‑quality care to patients across Vancouver Island.

We are seeking a medical oncologist to support a locum opportunity within a collaborative, patient‑centred care team. The successful candidate will contribute to high‑quality clinical care and may also participate in research, administrative, and educational activities.

Physicians at BC Cancer – Victoria work in a collegial environment where teaching, innovation, and continuous improvement are encouraged. The centre is actively involved in clinical trials and quality initiatives, offering opportunities to engage in research, education, and program development. New team members join a culture that values partnership, work‑life balance, and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for patients and families.

You have obtained, or are in the process of completing, Fellowship standing with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine, along with a Certificate of Special Competence in Medical Oncology. You must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia and meet the credentialing requirements of the BC Cancer Professional Advisory Committee. In addition, you should qualify for a clinical appointment in the Division of Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine, at the University of British Columbia. Eligibility for a valid license to practise medicine in Canada is required.

Successful candidates will have:

Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).

Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
