Verismo Health Inc. is seeking a skilled and dedicated Psychiatrist to join our team at East Guelph Medical Clinic, Unit A5 - 320 Eastview Road, Guelph, Ontario. Access to psychiatry is one of the sharpest gaps in the Guelph-Wellington catchment. Family physicians in the area have limited options for timely adult psychiatric consultation, and patients frequently wait months or travel out of region for care.

In a fully furnished, well-equipped environment, you will have the resources you need to provide exceptional psychiatric care to patients in Guelph and the surrounding Wellington County community. This is a turnkey arrangement - space, EMR, reception, scheduling, referral triage and billing are all in place - and it is available in-person, virtually or hybrid, from one day per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric consultation and assessment for patients referred by family physicians and community providers.
• Perform thorough psychiatric assessments, including history-taking, mental status examination and risk assessment.
• Diagnose and manage mood, anxiety, psychotic, attentional and substance use disorders.
• Initiate, adjust and monitor pharmacotherapy, including monitoring for adverse effects and drug interactions.
• Order and interpret relevant investigations, including laboratory work and therapeutic drug monitoring.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment and care plans, incorporating psychotherapeutic and psychosocial interventions as appropriate.
• Provide shared-care support and timely consultation reports to referring family physicians.
• Coordinate care and referrals with community mental health services and other specialties as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
• Collaborate with the clinic's medical, nursing and administrative staff to ensure efficient, patient-centred care.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Valid medical license in the province of Ontario (CPSO), or eligibility for independent practice registration.
• Certification in Psychiatry (FRCPC or equivalent), or eligibility for certification.
• CMPA coverage.
• Excellent clinical judgment and diagnostic skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
