Job Description
LOCUMS IN NW ONTARIO - Consider a NW Ontario locum in Terrace Bay or Schreiber, one week at a time!
We are looking for Rural Family Physician locums to visit one of our teams in Terrace Bay or Schreiber. The Aguasabon clinic is located in the McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay and the J.E. Stokes Medical clinic is a short 10 minutes away in Schreiber. Each placement typically includes 6 clinic days and 3 or 4 ER on call days. (may be flexible depending on your availability)
Locum coverage includes clinic, ER and hospital/LTC duties. Current ATLS/ACLS required. (Please advise, if any questions.)
We are part of the North Shore Family Health team which includes a Nurse Practitioner, Dietician, Social Worker/Mental Health worker and diabetes nurse shared between our two clinics.
Patient volume for a typical clinic day is 15-20 patients and on-call physicians are booked slightly lighter in clinic. Appointments can be cancelled if necessary due to Emergency department situations. Our ER department is not usually overly busy and an average 24-hour period you can expect 5-10 patients a day, sometimes more. Call can be taken off-site from “home” and not expect to on site unless called in.
Fully furnished locum house is available on a first come, first served basis. Locum physicians are paid mainly through by daily stipend of $1142.92/week day + 5% permissible billings + and applicable 3rd party billings. ER On-Call stipend is $ 1995.00 per weekday and $ 2985.00 per weekend / holiday. Reimbursement for housing, travel and travel time through HFO.
Locuming in a rural community is a great way to experience a wide scope of practice. Locums have free time to explore our great outdoors and extracurricular activities. We can be reached by air travel in to the City of Thunder Bay and then a 2-hour scenic drive along the Trans Canada Highway.
