Job Description
Primary Care Alberta in partnership with the University of Calgary's Department of Family Medicine invite applications for the role of Site Medical Leader at the Central Family Medicine Teaching Clinic, located on the 8th floor of Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre - downtown Calgary.
As the Site Medical Leader of the Department of Family Medicine, Central Family Medicine Teaching Clinic, you hold professional accountability to the Medical Director, Academic Teaching Clinics through to the Chief Medical Officer, Primary Care Alberta for matters relating to patient care and clinical service delivery.
In a competent and professional manner, the Site Medical Leader will:
- Support organizational goals, policies, and strategic planning initiatives
- Ensure high-quality patient care, professionalism, and continuity of service (including coverage and timely follow-up) is occurring in clinic
- Fulfill teaching responsibilities and support education of learners and staff
- Participate in quality improvement and use data to enhance care and service delivery
- Attend and contribute to meetings, team activities, and collaborative initiatives
- Conduct physician supervision, reviews, and address patient concerns in accordance with AHS Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules
- Lead and support the academic clinical teaching site and clinical service planning
- Collaborate with Primary Care Networks and academic partners to advance integrated care
- Be physically present in the clinic for the entirety of each clinical half-day, which consists of three (3) hours of direct patient care time, unless previously arranged with clinic leadership in exceptional circumstances.
Qualifications:
- Certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) required
- Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
- Participate in the Alberta Tracked Prescription Program (TPP)
- Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience in a family medicine setting
- Eligible for an AHS Medical Staff appointment with Community Primary Care, Department of Family Medicine
- Eligible for an academic appointment with the University of Calgary’s Department of Family Medicine
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Clinical teaching experience required
- Leadership experience considered an asset
- Experience in quality improvement considered an asset
