Job Description
The Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division of The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAM H), are seeking to recruit a Scientist - Academic Psychiatrist, to build a program of clinical, research and creative professional activities specifically in the area of Trauma and Related Disorders, as well as to provide clinical care in the General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division. As a Medical Head, the candidate will be expected to co-design with an interprofessional team a service focused on the assessment and treatment of patients with trauma and related disorders to serve needs within CAMH and the
surrounding community. The service will employ a team-based care approach and utilize measurement in the delivery of care. As a Scientist, the successful candidate will be required to establish local, national, and international collaborations, provide practical supervision of undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral research trainees, and technical staff.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead research activities, maintain an active publication record, and secure extramural funding sources for those activities. They will also disseminate research results through presentations at academic meetings and conferences and communicate ideas to key decision makers. Participation in leadership advisory groups at CAMH and externally is expected. There are also teaching opportunities with undergraduate and post graduate students, elective residents and fellows. The successful candidate will be required to have an MD and PhD and will have an academic position description of Clinician Investigator and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto.
The successful applicant must hold an MD and be eligible for a Clinical Full-time appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. They must have, or be eligible for, certification in Psychiatry with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate must have a track record of publications and program development in the area of trauma and related disorders. Graduate training in research pertaining to the treatment and/or neurobiology of trauma and related disorders. Training in quality improvement is an asset and if the candidate does not have formal training it will be expected that they participate in more formal QI training through the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Applicants must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. As a full-time staff member at CAMH, the candidate will provide on-call services as part of their clinical responsibilities.
This is a full-time permanent position and remuneration include administrative and research stipend ranging from $270,000 to $330,000 per year partially based on fee for service earnings in addition to income from the Alternate Funding Plan and other sources of income.
