Associate Chief Medical Officer
Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA)
Position Overview
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) is seeking an experienced and collaborative Associate Chief Medical Officer to support the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in advancing operational and strategic priorities across the region. Reporting to the CMO, the Associate CMO provides medical leadership in key areas including patient flow, access management, capacity planning, physician engagement, and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide professional and operational leadership to support high-quality, patient-centred care
• Engage physicians as active partners in system improvement and service delivery
• Support initiatives related to patient flow, access block, and capacity management
• Collaborate with site medical leaders to optimize care delivery and review operational performance
• Lead and participate in service design, quality improvement, and policy development initiatives
• Promote evidence-based clinical practices and coordinated service delivery across WRHA sites
• Participate in regional planning, committees, and leadership forums
• Support the strategic direction of the WRHA and act as Acting Chief Medical Officer as required
Qualifications
• Licensed medical practitioner eligible to practice in Manitoba and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM)
• Active member of the WRHA Medical Staff
• Demonstrated leadership and management experience in a health services environment
• Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
• Experience in patient flow, capacity management, and operational leadership
• Financial and operational acumen to support decision-making and evaluation of proposals
