Job Description
Practice rural emergency medicine in our beautiful community, Deep River. Situated along the Ottawa River and just two hours from major city amenities (with Ottawa to our east and North Bay to the west), come experience small town charm with close access to large city amenities.
Deep River and District Health is seeking physicians that want to practice rural emergency medicine. CCFP, CCFP-EM, or FRCPC (+1 is not required, new graduates are encouraged and buddy shifts are available to support comfort level in the department). Additional requirements include CMPA, current ACLS, ATLS & PALS are recommended but not required. Our current dedicated group of 3 local physicians along with a reliable core group of locum physicians regularly staff our ED and we are looking to add other physicians interested in practicing rural emergency medicine on a full-time, part-time, or locum basis to our team.
Our rural Emergency Department is comprised of two resus beds within a negative pressure space, two observation beds, one procedure room with two beds, four treatment rooms and conference space. On average our volume is 35-42 patients in a 24 hour period with the majority being CTAS 3-4. DRDH has onsite diagnostic imaging and lab support. New POCUS system available at bedside in the ED. Epic EMR in place with paid education session arranged as required.
In addition to a rewarding practice opportunity within the Emergency Department at Deep River and District Health, our community and surrounding area offers rural living for those looking to achieve great work-life balance as well as various outdoor activities throughout the seasons, from hiking, kayaking, fishing to cross country skiing and snowmobiling, there is usually something for everyone to enjoy.
