Job Description
Ophthalmologist – Glaucoma Subspecialty
Southlake Health is seeking a Royal College–certified Ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in glaucoma to join our growing Surgical Program and help meet the needs of the rapidly expanding communities we serve.
This is a fee-for-service position funded through the Ministry of Health.
About Southlake Health
Southlake Health hosts a regional ophthalmology program providing both primary and tertiary eye care to the communities of York Region and surrounding areas. The program supports a broad spectrum of ophthalmic services and continues to expand in response to the needs of one of the fastest-growing regions in Ontario, serving a rapidly growing catchment of more than one million residents.
We are seeking a glaucoma-trained ophthalmologist to join and expand our established glaucoma and complex anterior segment program, supporting both surgical and medical glaucoma care within a regional referral network. The successful candidate will join a collaborative group of ophthalmologists committed to delivering high-quality surgical and medical care across a wide range of ophthalmic subspecialties.
Surgical care is delivered through a contemporary, purpose-built ophthalmology ambulatory surgical centre designed for high-volume cataract surgery and complex anterior segment procedures, and equipped to support modern glaucoma surgery, MIGS procedures, and advanced anterior segment techniques.
Physicians in the program participate in a regional ophthalmology call program serving York Region.
Southlake Health is recognized for outstanding clinical services and patient outcomes. The organization has been named one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for 2026, one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures for 2025, and one of the World’s Best Hospitals for seven consecutive years.
Physicians benefit from a highly collaborative environment with opportunities for teaching, research, quality improvement, and leadership, while maintaining a strong career–life balance.
