Job Description

Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA)-Saskatoon and University of Saskatchewan (U of S), Department of Psychiatry, seek a team-oriented Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to be part of our dynamic and expanding Department. The successful candidate will provide services to effectively address the mental health needs of pediatric patients. The position is funded through an Academic Clinical Funding Plan and provides the Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with protected time for clinical, administrative and academic duties, including research. Potential areas of clinical work include outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and consultation-liaison to medical and surgical units.

The successful candidate will provide clinical and academic services as a member of the Department of Psychiatry and will hold appointments with both the University of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Health Authority. Appointment with the university will be at the assistant, associate or full professor level.

The Saskatoon Area with the Saskatchewan Health Authority has a Psychiatry Residency training program as well as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Subspecialty training program, which are dedicated to learning and are partners in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents with the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan.

Call coverage provides for a balanced lifestyle as it is shared with all other Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists in the Division.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In addition, the successful candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.

University of Saskatchewan- The beautiful University of Saskatchewan campus is located on the shores of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, a city with a diverse and thriving economic base and a vibrant cultural life. It is a research-intensive institution with 26,000 students and 6,500 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Science Complex and two of the largest science projects in the country – the Canadian Light Source synchrotron and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization/International Vaccine. A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by the University of Saskatvhewan. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
