The Department of Emergency Medicine in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, in partnership with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, invites applications for the position of Clinical Research Director.
This leadership position is responsible for advancing and coordinating clinical research activities within the Department of Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate will work with departmental leadership to develop and implement a strategic vision for research, foster scholarly activity among faculty and trainees, and build collaborations within the College of Medicine, the Saskatchewan Health Authority, and external partners.
The role includes 0.4 FTE protected academic time to support the establishment of clinical research in the emergency department, with the remaining FTE in clinical emergency medicine practice within the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The position offers an opportunity to grow an emerging research program within a supportive academic and health system environment.
Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for clinical research within the emergency department (collaboration, logistics)Strengthen research partnerships within the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Health AuthorityNetwork nationally and internationally with multi-site trials and research groups/networksMembership to NCER, CEDRN +/- other national/international research collaborationsSite lead/liaison for clinical trialsDevelop a clinical research support infra-structure to support and mentor faculty, residents, and students in clinical researchObtain grant funding to fund infra-structureRecruit and train research support personnelMembership and participation in the Department of EM research committee (educational sessions, research day planning, abstract reviews, etc.)Engagement in peer-review (grant, abstract reviews, journal reviewer, academic promotion, etc.)Dissemination of clinical research findings (abstracts, publications, speaking invitations, etc.)Submission of a self-assessment on deliverables to Department Head annually

MD (or equivalent) with eligibility for licensure in SaskatchewanEmergency Medicine certification via CCFP-EM, FRCPC or equivalentGraduate training and clinical research experience Demonstrated track record of clinical research dissemination and productivity
