Job Description
Requirements:
Education: Completion of a university degree in medicine (MD) or equivalent medical training from an accredited institution is required. The candidate will work in a clinical support role under the supervision of a licensed physician.
Experience: Clinical or medical office experience is an asset
Skills:
-Patient interaction and clinical support skills
-Strong administrative and organizational ability
-Knowledge of EMR systems
-Communication and teamwork in a clinical environment
Language: English required. Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Clinic Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support to the physician to ensure efficient patient care and clinic operations.
Clinical Support and Patient Intake:
-Greet patients, obtain reason for visit, and collect relevant medical history
-Record patient information in the electronic medical record using the SOAP format
-Measure and document vital signs and basic clinical information
-Present patient information to the physician and assist with updating charts following
assessment
-Prepare laboratory, imaging, and referral requisitions as directed.
Procedures Support:
-Assist with minor clinical procedures under physician supervision
-Prepare and administer vitamin injections
-Prepare vaccines for immunization
-Perform throat swabs and ear flushes
-Assist with other clinical tasks as directed
Follow-up and Patient Communication:
-Conduct patient follow-up calls to discuss test results and care plans
-Document telephone encounters in the medical record
-Update patient charts and communicate any physician-approved changes to patients
Medication and Administrative Coordination:
-Verify pharmacy information and coordinate prescriptions as directed by the physician
-Monitor clinic inbox and respond to administrative messages
-Identify urgent items and escalate to the physician when required
-Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
General Clinic Support
-Maintain patient confidentiality and follow clinic policies
-Support patient flow and day-to-day clinic operations
-Work collaboratively with the physician and clinic staff
