Job Description
The Prince County Hospital has opportunities for physicians to join their Emergency Department team that provides the full scope of rural-urban emergency medicine services.
Located in the city of Summerside, the Prince County Hospital is the second largest acute care hospital in the province. It is operated by Health PEI, a crown corporation responsible for the delivery of publicly funded health services in Prince Edward Island. Health PEI’s head office is located at 16 Garfield Street, Charlottetown, PEI.
The Prince County Hospital (PCH) is a 110‑bed regional referral hospital serving western Prince Edward Island. It includes a six‑bed ICU and provides a wide range of specialty services, including Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Anesthesia, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, ENT, and Psychiatry. As one of the Island’s two main acute‑care centres, PCH plays a vital role in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care to a diverse population.
The Hospital’s 20-bed Emergency Department sees approximately 24,000 visits annually and offers a broad and stimulating scope of practice. Physicians at PCH take the lead in the management of trauma, STEMI, stroke, and code blue patients within a well-organized, collegial, and highly collaborative environment. The department is supported by dedicated resources and established protocols to ensure readiness and an effective response to a broad range of emergency and public health situations.
