Position Summary

Prairie Mountain Health is currently seeking family physician(s) or internists to join the Hospitalist group at Brandon Regional Health Centre. Applicants are encouraged to apply for either a full-time position or part-time position. A full-time position is a 1:2 rotation (26 weeks per year) and a part time position is a 1:4 rotation (13 weeks per year). The work week is Monday through to Sunday, on-site from 0800 - 1700 hours. The primary role of the Hospitalist is to care for patients presenting to the hospital requiring inpatient admission who do not have a physician with admitting privileges. In serving as the Most Responsible Physician, you will manage all care including work-up, appropriate referrals, planning discharge and liaising with the community primary care provider.  The Hospitalist role offers exposure to a broad scope of acute inpatient medicine while being supported by allied health, specialists services and a collaborative Hospitalist group.

As the second largest city in Manitoba, with an approximate population of 60,000 and growing, Brandon is the main hub and referral site for southwestern Manitoba, with a catchment area of approximately 200,000 people. Brandon Regional Health Centre is a fully accredited multi-specialty facility with 300+ bed capacity and currently undergoing a $110 million-dollar expansion of our inpatient care facilities, expected to be completed by 2026.

Our facility has a 24/7 Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Surgical and Endoscopy Suites. Our on-site diagnostic services include radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI and nuclear medicine. There is a wide range of specialist services available onsite including pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, anesthesia, general surgery, radiology, nuclear medicine, oncology, orthopedic surgery, urology and internal medicine.

Brandon Regional Health Centre is a satellite campus for the University of Manitoba and the Rady Faulty of Medicine and offers the opportunity to contribute to the teaching/mentoring of medical learners.
