Family Physician 0.25-1.0 FTE – Norway House Hospital
Independent Contractor
CLOSING DATE: Until Filled
Hourly Range: $237.32
On-call stipend, Meal per Diem and Additional Hours
Site Description:
Norway House Cree Nation: 812 kilometers north of Winnipeg
Population: Over 8000
Physicians deploy from Winnipeg to community sites through chartered aircrafts, Monday through Friday on rotational time frames.
Year round road access, approximately 9 hours’ drive each way. The Norway House Ferry is used to cross the Nelson Channel.
In-province travel and accommodations covered by organization.
Possibly to travel with your family with 8 weeks’ notice, family travel expenses is the responsibility of the contractor.
Out of province travel paid with physicians holding 0.25 FTE (5-7 days monthly) or higher.
Out of province travel paid for locum providers with a commitment of 2 consecutive weeks (12 days).
Qualifications:
- Must hold licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, or eligible for licensure.
- Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
Certifications:
- Must have current Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) (within 6 months of hire)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 6 months of hire)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (within 6 months of hire)
- Indigenous cultural awareness course (within 6 months of hire)
- Manitoba Opioid Antagonist Therapy (OAT) course or equivalent is encouraged
Skills/Abilities
- Strong health assessment and clinical skills are required
- Excellent leadership, critical thinking and collaborative interpersonal skills
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, working as a member of a health care team alongside extended practice nurses, paramedics and other allied professionals
- Must demonstrate an appreciation of Indigenous worldviews, cultures and be sensitive in providing anti-racist, trauma- informed care.
- Must be able to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible.
- Must possess a dependable, consistent and reliable work record, including attendance at work.
Compensation:
Compensation is remunerated as per Doctors Manitoba
Northern Independent Contractor GP Agreement April 1 2023 - March 31 2027.
