ONGOMIIZWIN – INDIGENOUS INSTITUTE OF HEALTH AND HEALING
Family Physician 0.25-0.75 FTE – Churchill & Lac Brochet, Brochet, Tadoule Lake
Independent Contractor CLOSING DATE: Until Filled
Hourly Range: $237.32
On-call stipend, Meal per Diem and Additional Hours
Site Description:
Churchill: 1004 air kilometers north of Winnipeg on the west shore of Hudson Bay
Population: approx. 900 population
Lac Brochet: 423 air kilometers west of Churchill.
Population: approx. 990 population
Brochet: 439 air kilometers west of Churchill.
Population: approx. 400 population
Tadoule Lake : 258 air kilometers west of Churchill.
Population: approx. 310 population
Physicians deploy from Winnipeg to community sites through chartered aircrafts, Monday through Friday on rotational time frames.
In-province travel and accommodations covered by organization.
Out of province travel paid with physicians holding 0.25 FTE (5-7 days monthly).
Out of province travel paid for locum providers with a commitment of 2 consecutive weeks (12 days).
Qualifications:
• Must hold licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, or eligible for licensure.
• Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
Certifications:
• Must have current Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) (within 6 months of hire)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 6 months of hire)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (within 6 months of hire)
• Indigenous cultural awareness course (within 6 months of hire)
• Manitoba Opioid Antagonist Therapy (OAT) course or equivalent is encouraged
Skills/Abilities
• Strong health assessment and clinical skills are required
• Excellent leadership, critical thinking and collaborative interpersonal skills
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, working as a member of a health care team alongside extended practice nurses, paramedics and other allied professionals
• Must demonstrate an appreciation of Indigenous worldviews, cultures and be sensitive in providing anti-racist, trauma- informed care.
• Must be able to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible.
• Must possess a dependable, consistent and reliable work record, including attendance at work.
Compensation:
Compensation is remunerated as per Doctors Manitoba
Northern Independent Contractor GP Agreement April 1 2023 - March 31 2027.
