Full Time General Surgeon(s)
We are looking for truly broad-based general surgeons. Common procedures are GI endoscopies, gallbladders, hernias, breast, skin and soft tissue and bowel surgery. GI endoscopy is an essential service and advanced skills in minimal access surgery and C-Section license is required. The elective workload is varied and call, though frequent, is not demanding.
Join a group of rural General Surgeons within the Northwestern Ontario Regional Surgical Network (RSN). The RSN serves Northwestern Ontario with surgeons based in Dryden, Kenora, Sioux Lookout and Fort Frances. The RSN provides equal, stable and competitive funding for all its surgeons.
Feel supported by our skillful GP Anesthesia full time and locum colleagues. Family practice with obstetrical surgical skills and our generalist Family Physicians that provide emergency room and inpatient care coverage. Fort Frances has newly constructed modern OR theatres with fully integrated MIS suite and endoscopy room. CT, X-ray and Laboratory are available (callback after late evening).
Fort Frances is a rural, remote borderland community serving a catchment area of 18,000 residents. We are a teaching site for
Northern Ontario School of Medicine. As such, we regularly have medical students and residents in various stages of their educational journey. With NOSM and Northern Ontario Academic Medicine Association (NOAMA) Fort Frances Local Education Group offers all local NOSM Faculty access to generous CME funding and research opportunities. Moving expencses available through the Fort Frances Recruitment and Retention Committee.
The candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The candidate must have coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA). The successful candidates must have demonstrated outstanding knowledge, skills and ethical standards as evidenced by letters of reference.
