About Brightshores Health System
Brightshores Health System is a six-hospital network serving more than 170,000 residents and 2 million annual visitors across Grey Bruce. Our Owen Sound Hospital is the regional referral centre, offering Level 2/3 Critical Care Units (ICU, CCU, Step-Down), 24/7 diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, PACS, labs), and comprehensive specialty support. We provide the scope of a regional centre with the collaboration and flexibility of community medicine, supported by academic partnerships with Western University and McMaster University.
Rural hospitals in Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton, and Wiarton extend care across the region, ensuring seamless access and integration.
Integration with Critical Care (IM + ICM)
Internal Medicine in Owen Sound offers a uniquely integrated model with Critical Care Medicine, creating a hybrid practice experience:
• 24 Critical Care beds (12 ICU, 12 CCU/Step-Down)
• Shared-pair service model (2 attending physicians (Intensivist on ICU, Internist on CCU/Step-down, 12 patients each)
