Physicians are supported by experienced clerical staff, a dedicated family practice nurse, and access to social work services, fostering a team-based approach to care. The practice serves a diverse patient population with a wide range of healthcare needs, providing an opportunity for meaningful, full-scope family medicine in a close-knit community setting.

Opportunities for inpatient and emergency department coverage are available but are not mandatory.

Job Description

Cheticamp Medical Clinic is seeking a Family Physician to provide Locum coverage June 1st to December 31, 2026.

Locum physicians provide coverage for family practices, including inpatient and nursing home care, as well as specialist hospital and office coverage as requested. Compensation includes a minimum daily income guarantee of $1,200 for family physicians ($600 for half-day), with additional earnings if shadow billings exceed this amount. Travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), are reimbursed, along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.

Qualifications

• All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
• All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
• Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
